About ICPDR
International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) is the platform for implementation of the Danube River Protection Convention, EU Water Framework Directive and EU Floods Directive in the Danube River Basin. ICPDR is the organiser of Joint Danube Surveys (JDS), the owner of extensive databases on the Danube and a full partner in SOLUTIONS.

Member portraits
Igor Liska
Dr. Igor Liska is a member of the SOLUTIONS Project Coordination Committee and of the Stakeholder Board.
He is technical expert for water quality and water management at the Office of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River in Vienna, Austria. He provides managerial and technical support to the activities concerning monitoring and assessment of the surface and groundwater quality and quantity in the Danube River Basin as well as the maintenance, operation and further development of the Danube Accident Emergency Warning System. He contributed substantially to the preparation of the first River Basin Management Plan for the Danube River Basin District as well as the Action Programme for Sustainable Flood Protection in the Danube River Basin and currently supports the implementation of the EU Floods Directive in the Danube River Basin District. He has been project manager of three Joint Danube Surveys in 2001, 2007 and 2013 (the world’s largest river expeditions), author of the water quality monitoring strategy for the Danube River Basin District and coordinator of the sediment management issues under the ICPDR.
